According to Elgin the largest of 175 turkeys and 125 hams was thanks to a generous donation by the Indiana Central Transportation Company (ICTC), the school bus company under contract to the Gary Community School Corporation, channeled by Jamal Washington, ICTC senior contract manager.

De'Shawn Mullins, 6 and Jeremiah Truss, 9, rode their new bikes through the Genesis Convention Center on Saturday. The boys joined hundreds of Gary children in receiving gifts through the Toys for Kids that Santa Claus Forgot (But God Remembered) program.

 

This year the holiday giving program returned as a joint venture among event organizer Jamal Washington, of the Indiana Central School Bus Co. and Rudy Clay Jr.  Also Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, Majestic Star Casino, Pastor Edward Sims, Lake County Commissioner Roosevelt Allen and Calumet Township Trustee Mary Elgin donated to the program.  Click here for article
